To be a barber you have to have some type of artistic ability.People come to you with a bare canvas (their hair), and it is up to you to shape the look they are going for. Some barbers, however, take it to a whole new level.
The person who created this artwork has advanced artistic talent. With designs there are different techniques that can be implemented.
Stenciling
One of the more easier techniques would be stenciling. This is when you have the design pre made, and all you have to do is trace it. The design in the title picture of this post was originated from this design. Do you see part of the picture below in the haircut above?
Freehand
Another more complicated technique is called freehand. This is when the barber freestyles the design based off of a picture or their imagination, and this particular design looks like it was done freehanded.
No matter what technique was used, this design takes a lot of talent, practice, and patience.
Weapons of Great Barbers
You can use any trimmer to create designs, but smaller trimmers such as the Wahl Peanut usually work the best due to its small blades, and easier manuerving.
Other good design clippers we like to use are the Andis T-Outliner, and the Andis Styliner 2.
